Pet In-Home Euthanasia

At Home to Halo Veterinary Hospice, you can have peaceful, compassionate euthanasia inside or outside of your home or at a place that holds special meaning for your family. Saying goodbye to your beloved pet is one of the most difficult and important decisions you will have to make.

In-home euthanasia appointments generally last from 30-45 minutes. Dr. Hogan will answer any questions or concerns you may have about the process. When everyone is ready to move forward, Dr. Hogan will give your pet the sedative to ease their discomfort and help them fall asleep. If your pet is still eating and not vomiting, you can offer treats or their favorite foods to distract them while this medication is being given.

Once they are asleep and your family is ready, the last medication will be given. After they have passed, your family will be given time to say goodbye to your pet and take as much time as you need. Dr. Hogan will provide you with a keepsake lock of your pet’s fur and a clay pawprint before leaving. Ink paw or nose prints can be provided by the crematory at your request.

Home to Halo can help you with aftercare arrangements, whether we euthanize your pet or they pass naturally at home. Dr. Hogan will transfer your pet in a basket or a stretcher with cozy blankets, and family members may be asked to assist during this transport. We will give you more time to say farewell before getting into the vehicle. We understand how hard it is to say goodbye, and we will treat your pet as if they were our own.
